Oreo Spider Cookies – Your Modern Family

Share Article

I wanted to share these fun Oreo spider chocolate chip cookies because they are adorable, simple, and fun for the kids! They will take you no time at all… the longest part is the chocolate chip cookie recipe, but it’s worth it because they taste so good!

The decorating is a breeze, and the end result is so cute!

Oreo spider cookies

Ingredients:

  • ¾ Cup butter, softened
  • ¾ Cup brown sugar
  • ¾ Cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • A sandwich bag filled with Oreos, coarsely crushed (I used about 12)
  • 12 oz bag of white chocolate chips
  • Extra Oreo cookies
  • Black decorating gel
  • Candy eyes

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with non-stick spray. We like giant cookies, so we used a whoopie-pie pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the following ingredients: butter, brown sugar, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.

    step 1
    step 2

  3. In a second bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
    step 4
  4. Now, add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and combine.
    step 5
  5. In a sandwich bag, crush the Oreos.
TIP: You don’t want them to be finely crushed. It’s better if you have chunks of Oreo in your cookies!step 6
  6. Add the Oreos and the white chocolate chips to the batter. Mix well.step 7
  7. Now, it’s time to get the cookies ready for baking. If you place them on a baking sheet, be sure to make them large enough to hold an Oreo “spider.”
TIP: We used a woopie-pie pan on one batch. (This pan makes 12 individual cookies, 3″ in diameter each. On the other batch, we used a large ice cream scoop.step 8
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until they just begin to brown.  Let them cool completely on the cookie sheet before adding the “spider.”
  9. Once the cookies are cool, use the decorating gel to ‘glue’ an Oreo to the center of each cookie.
    step 9
  10. Add a dot of decorating gel to the back of each of the candy eyes and stick it into place.
  11. Use the decorating gel to draw eight spider legs to each cookie. This will add the finishing touch to each cookie.
  12. Let the cookies sit long enough for the decorating gel to harden before serving them.
