Every year, we like to think of a FUN Halloween treat to make with the kids. The teacher in me likes to make fun snacks for every holiday, but the non-crafter in me knows that it has to be simple.

These pretzel rod Halloween Treats are both: simple and fun.

You can even wrap them up and put them in little treat bags to serve to neighbors and friends. They also make cute favor to leave when you “BOO” someone’s house!

This recipe only requires three ingredients:

The rest is up to you – you can get as creative as you want!   We’ve been making these for years and they still love to make them as much today as they did years ago…

Easy Halloween Treats for Kids

While I am certainly not a ‘crafty’ person (not even a little bit), I do like to do crafts and make easy treats with our kids.

As a mom of four, a play therapist, and a former teacher, I can always find a way to keep our kids busy while still having fun – and when that involves making tasty treats the whole family gets to enjoy, all the better. These white-chocolate pretzel-sprinkle sticks did just the trick.

What do you need to get started?

•    Chocolate (we used white chocolate chips)
•    Sprinkles (I have little edible fall leaves that I love!)
•    Pretzel rods
•    Parchment paper
•    Optional: colored sugar

Directions:

1. Melt the chocolate.
You can use a double-boiler or you can melt them in the microwave. I melted mine for 50 seconds, stirred it, and melted it some more.

2. Line your work area with parchment paper.

3. Dip the pretzel in melted chocolate.
Take a pretzel rod and coat it with the chocolate. I just poured it on my pretzel rod with a spoon and had the kids do the same. We covered about ½-¾ of the pretzel with it, but you can dip as much or as little as you’d like!

4. Place the pretzel on the parchment paper to let dry.

5. Add sprinkles immediately.
As soon as we placed the pretzels on the paper, we covered them with the sprinkles. Since the chocolate is still melted, the sprinkles will stick more easily.

Tip: You could also do this step before placing it on the paper, but I wanted it to be as easy as possible for the kids.

All-in-all, this was an easy, fun recipe and the kids had a blast! It kept them busy for a while and they woke up the following morning asking for one of their pretzels (of course my answer was “after lunch!”).
