We recently completed a gorgeous gray nursery design for a client here in Southern California, and it’s full of subtle color and sophistication! We’ve been getting a lot of requests for more neutrals that aren’t exclusively whites and creams. This client wanted her nursery to be soft, but also wanted some contrast and a touch of color.
We started by choosing the wallpaper since that would be the foundation of the room. We found this stunning pattern in a very soft gray that adds so much to the room without overwhelming it.
We wanted this nursery to feel layered, so we went with a two-toned wood crib instead of more gray. The richer wood tone warms up the room. We paired it with a black dresser for contrast and a gorgeous green velvet glider for a pop.
The client wanted a very slight transportation theme with the art, but nothing too thematic. We found a great piece of art that’s whimsical yet sophisticated, and ordered it in an unframed canvas for over the crib.
To balance the green glider, we also chose some green wall hooks for the opposite side of the room and a few small touches of green on the wall shelves.
We also added in some natural textures to give the space some coziness. There’s a woven storage hamper, a textured wood lamp, a super soft faux sheepskin rug and a boucle ottoman.
This room also has some touches of gold to warm it up even more, like the wall mirror and chandelier. We just love how this nursery turned out!
