Halloween Napkin Ideas
If you’re holding a Halloween party or dinner, there are some lovely Halloween napkin ideas to transform your table into a spooky talking point!
From mummy-folded napkins to coffin pockets, ghosts to folded witch’s hats. The internet (and Pinterest) is full of weird and wonderful ideas.
My favorite is a folded bat Halloween napkin.
Super simple, you just need a black square napkin or — alternatively — a square of black fabric.
I used a couple of table sequins as eyes too, but this is totally optional. It looks just as effective without.
Halloween Napkin Folding
I’ve been creating pumpkin folded napkins for the autumn season for quite a few years now; and as have pale green napkins, they look quite pretty and make nice autumnal decor — rather than specifically for Halloween.
That said, if you wanted to go the whole hog and invest in some orange napkins, you could mix it up and have napkins for the autumn table, then ones specifically for Halloween, too.
Bat Napkin Folding
I’ve seen various ways to do bat napkin folding online, but I haven’t seen any other tutorials that leave a little gap between the top points for ears. I think this makes these little bat folded napkins work the best!
They’re such a cute addition to a Halloween party. I used these napkins from Amazon — I thought £9.99 for 10 was such a good price and as they’re polyester, they wash really well too.
Step By Step Bat Napkin Folding
It’s so simple! You literally can use the napkin — with no other embellishments. But I like finishing mine with a couple of table sequins for eyes. Here are the simple steps, but I’ve also added a picture guide to make it even clearer.
- Take your square black napkin or piece of fabric.
- Open it out in front of you on a flat surface.
- Fold one corner to the other, leaving a little gap to create a pair of ears.
- Roll up the bottom edge of the napkin to about two-thirds of the way up.
- Fold up one edge from the bottom middle of the napkin diagonally to create the first wing.
- Repeat on the other side: fold up the opposite side from the bottom middle of the napkin diagonally to create the second wing.
- Now you have your bat shape, add two little table sequins to create eyes (this is optional).
- There you have it! One little bat. The perfect Halloween napkin fold.
